Council chief executive addresses Swanson Street issues
Auckland City says it will continue to listen and discuss the concerns of Swanson Street property and business owners who feel they have been ignored in the process to date.
Chief executive David Rankin says the city ran a comprehensive consultation process.
"We are surprised at the specific feedback reported in the media today and so we will go back and check the views of those who have expressed concern.
"The consultation so far has captured a lot of feedback such as the number and location of loading zones and pedestrian safety in Mills Lane. We are aware of three key issues raised by stakeholders that were considered but not integrated into the revised concept design.
"The project still has a number of design stages to go through before work begins next year, and these include further consultation," he said.
Mr Rankin said that the plan to introduce improvements to the street is part of the central city's $100 million streetscape programme.
