Free Workshop Tells Parents About NCEA Qualification
Highland Park Community House is running a free workshop on 25 October to introduce parents to the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), the national qualification of New Zealand secondary schools; there will also be a careers session to follow.
Karl Mutch, Manager Secondary Schools, TEAM Solutions from the Faculty of Education at the University of Auckland, will facilitate the session from midday to 1.30 pm, which will cover:
* What is the NCEA?
* What are the changes from the previous system?
* How is student work assessed?
* How is NCEA reported?
Wendy Drumm, Careers Consultant, Career Services rapuara – Manukau, will facilitate the careers session from 1:30 to 3:00pm, which will include:
* Career planning and further studies
* Careers information and planning
* Pathways to careers
* Qualifications / entry criteria for tertiary studies
