Get creative with Arts in the City this spring!

Get creative with Arts in the City this spring!

On 10 October, Manukau Arts in the City launches its Term 4 arts programme, giving opportunities for budding artists of all ages to explore their creative flair.

Otara Music Arts Centre is hosting guitar, piano, drum and singing workshops.

Courses on offer at Nathan Homestead include abstract painting, jewellery construction and design, sculpture, digital photography and flax weaving, with many of the classes being led by professional artists.

A highlight of the programme is the “New Ways of Investigating” workshop on 15 October. The course is led by artists Mere Clifford and Rowina Ormond who are currently exhibiting at Nathan Homestead gallery, giving students a chance to view their work before signing up for the course.

Mere and Rowina will guide students in an investigation of new ways to draw and paint, using methods they currently use in their own works. Students will come away with a work in progress, as well as a repertoire of processes, techniques and principles to motivate and inspire future works.

For further information on all the courses on offer along with dates and prices, please telephone Nathan Homestead on 267 0180, Otara Music Arts Centre on 274 6400 or check Council’s website on http://www.manukau.govt.nz/recreat5.htm
