Talk Environment comes to town

26 September 2005 Ministry for the Environment Media Advisory

Talk Environment comes to town

The Ministry for the Environment is coming to a town or city near you soon to discuss hot environmental issues face-to-face with your community.

The Talk Environment Roadshow hits the road from October 10 to 27, visiting 16 locations around the country. The Ministry will host public meetings to meet New Zealanders, discuss key environmental topics and answer questions.

Topics include:

- how the newly amended Resource Management Act affects your communities and businesses, the benefits national environmental standards bring New Zealanders, including a proposed new standard to protect human drinking water supplies,

- progress in addressing waste issues, and a discussion of local challenges and opportunities.

Feedback from the Roadshow will be incorporated into the Ministry’s work, as happened last year.

The public meetings in the morning include a free breakfast. For dates, times and venues and to register, go to the Ministry website at www.mfe.govt.nz/withyou/talkenvironment/ or phone 0800 TALKENV (0800 825 536).
