MEDIA RELEASE
11 FEBRUARY 2005

Night work on SH1 at Plimmerton

Transit New Zealand’s contractor will be working at night on the Plimmerton to Paremata project from Sunday 13 February.

Transit regional project manager Catherine Worsley says the work involves resurfacing north of the new Plimmerton roundabout.

“A night work schedule allows us to progress work more efficiently with the minimum disruption to motorists. The work will continue for three weeks, except Friday and Saturday nights,” she said.

“At times a “Stop – Go” system will be operating, to provide working room, particularly at the new Plimmerton roundabout. We do not expect any build-up of traffic.

“During the day the road will be operating with two lanes each way at either 50 km/h or 70km/h as happens at present,” Ms Worsley said.

The Plimmerton to Paremata Upgrade Project will ease congestion and improve safety on this stretch of SH1. The project is on track for completion in mid 2005.
