Community Representatives Appointed To Ward Committees

At a meeting held on Tuesday night, 1 February, Hutt City Council appointed, four community representatives to each of the Central, Eastern, Northern and Western Ward Committees.

"The Council was extremely impressed by both the number of nominations received and the high calibre of all the nominees, and the decision about who to appoint was a very difficult one," said Mayor David Ogden.

Those appointed were:

Central Ward Committee
Sue Lafrentz
Brian Moylan
Desiree Mulligan
Evan Ng

Eastern Ward Committee
Mohammed Bah
Sally Fergus
Gerry Pallo
Teri Puketapu

Northern Ward Committee
Filomena Aukuso
Stuart Duck
Steve Ritchie
Leigh Sutton

Western Ward Committee
Jill Berridge
John McLellan
Noeline Matthews
Max Shierlaw

In making its decision, Council took into account the need for:
§ a mix of experience and new representation
§ a good geographic spread within each ward
§ an understanding of local and social issues
§ gender, cultural and ethnic mix.

Some previous ward committee members were not re-appointed to Ward Committees this triennium. The Council acknowledged their participation and the contribution they have made to their communities. The Mayor will host a retirement function in the near future to recognise the service given by retiring Ward Committee members, and to thank them for this service.
