CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 15 January until Thursday 20 January

Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.

CMJ Stage 1

Full motorway closures:

Sunday 16 January - CLOSED - overnight from 11pm until 4am on Monday:

. All southbound lanes between Cook St off-ramp and Khyber Pass on-ramp

Monday 17 January - CLOSED - overnight from 11pm until 4am on Tuesday (contingency closure):

. All southbound lanes between Cook St off-ramp and Khyber Pass on-ramp

Tuesday 18 January - CLOSED - overnight from 11pm until 4am on Wednesday (contingency closures):

. All southbound lanes between Cook St off-ramp and Khyber Pass on-ramp

Wednesday 19 January - CLOSED - overnight from 11pm until 4am on Thursday:

. All northbound lanes between Khyber Pass off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp

Thursday 20 January - CLOSED - overnight from 11pm until 4am on Friday (contingency closure)

. Khyber Pass Rd near the motorway ramps will be closed over two nights between the above dates

CMJ Stage 2

Full motorway closures:

Wednesday 19 January and Thursday 20 January - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 6am the following day:

. Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound between Nelson St off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp

Tuesday 18 January until Thursday 20 January - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 6am the following morning:

. Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp

In the event of inclement weather closures will be postponed until the following week.

Ramp and link closures:

Monday 17 January until Wednesday 19 January - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 6am the following day:

. Northwestern Motorway to Port (SH16 portbound)

. Northwestern Motorway to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

. Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16 westbound)

. Wellesley St on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16)

In the event of inclement weather, the closure will be postponed to the night of Thursday 20 January 2005.

Ongoing motorway lane closures:

There will be ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and the Symonds St overbridge from Sunday through to Thursday nights until early 2005.

Please choose alternative routes during these closures. Motorists are advised that there could be delays.

The CMJ Project

Stage 1 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.

Stage 2 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Wellington St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.
