Life Education Trust Moves to the West Coast
At its December meeting, The West Coast Development Trust confirmed a $28,687 grant to the Life Education Trust for the purchase of a truck unit and car.
The Life Education Programme is delivered to primary schools and provides young children with information vital to their health and well-being, and assists them to make the often difficult decisions they will face in their teenage years.
A new West Coast Life Education Trust is now being established and the vehicles will play a key role in ensuring this valuable service is delivered to schools throughout the region. In the past, The Life Education Trust had difficulty in moving its mobile classrooms and getting providers to travel to the West Coast from Canterbury. This was exacerbated by the travel distances involved in delivering the programme to all West Coast schools.
Ongoing operational costs will be met by the West Coast Life Education Trust, and they will also benefit from significant voluntary input from local heavy traffic operators and businesses in relocating classrooms regularly.
