Ponsonby's $1000 Christmas present
Aucklanders can be in to win a $1000 shopping spree along Ponsonby Road by casting their vote for Ponsonby Road's "Best Dressed Business" this Christmas.
The inaugural award, which is part of the new Ponsonby Xmas Festival, is for the best window display, best Christmas lights or even the best dressed staff members. Businesses on Jervois Road and up to Glengarry Wines are also included in the competition.
“Its heartening to see local businesses getting right behind this event. Businesses like Hirepool Grey Lynn are really getting into the spirit of it by donating their cherry picker to install Christmas lights on St John's Methodist and the All Saints churches,” says Councillor Penny Sefuiva, chairperson of the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee.
The winners of both the Ponsonby Road Best Dressed Business Competition and the Ponsonby Road $1000 Shopping Spree will be announced at 8.45pm on the outdoor stage at All Saints Church.
Votes and personal contact details should be emailed to info@ponsonbyroad.org.nz before 5pm, Thursday 16 December.
Find out more about the festival, including parking and travel options, online at www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/ponsonbyxmas. Shuttles are available from Victoria Market and Mercury Lane Carpark to minimise traffic congestion in the Ponsonby area.
This event is supported by Metromedia, Ponsonby Road Promotions, Sponge Bar, Radio Pacific 702AM, European Language Academy and Solid Gold 93.4FM. It is just one of more than 60 free events organised by Auckland City as part of their Ak@Play summer events programme.
