CMJ traffic bulletin: Friday 5 November until Thursday 11 November

Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.

CMJ Stage 1
Full motorway closures:
Sunday 7 November - CLOSED - overnight from 11pm until 4am on Monday:
. All southbound lanes between Cook St and Khyber Pass Rd

Wednesday 10 November - CLOSED - overnight from 11pm until 4am on Thursday:
. All southbound lanes between Cook St and Khyber Pass Rd

Thursday 11 November - CLOSED - overnight from 11pm until 4am on Friday:
. All southbound lanes between Cook St and Khyber Pass Rd

. Khyber Pass Road near the motorway ramps

Ongoing motorway lane closures:
There will be ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and the Symonds St overbridge from Sunday through to Thursday nights until 2005.

Please choose alternative routes during these closures. Motorists are advised that there could be delays.

CMJ Stage 2
Full motorway closures:
Sunday 7 November until Thursday 11 November - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm until 6am the following morning:
. Northwestern to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)
. Northwestern to Port (SH16 portbound)
AND EITHER:
. Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp (citybound)
OR:
. Northwestern to Nelson St off-ramp (SH16 citybound)

Note that on the nights that the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp is closed the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp will remain open and vice versa.

Motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.

If required additional closures will take place on the night of Sunday 14 November 2004.

The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.

Stage 2 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Wellington St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.

8.00am - 5.30pm, Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, Saturdays 10:00am - 12:00pm and the first Sunday of each month 10:00am - 12:00pm.

Road users are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation. In the event of bad weather, work will be postponed until the next clear night.
