Rodney Mayor Welcomes $180m Funding Announcement

Rodney Mayor John Law is praising the announcement by Transfund yesterday of the approval of $180m in funding towards the cost of ALPURT B2.

“We are indeed one step closer to getting ALPURT B2 underway,” the Mayor said.

“The Transfund Board is to be congratulated on their decision and Transit New Zealand equally recognised for their decision to get this funding approved. This is going to be one of the most eco-sensitive highway designs in the world and the tunnels will be state-of-the-art.”

“Rodney District Council will continue to work with Transit to get their final tolling approval from the Cabinet and, hopefully, we can see a construction start in 2004,” the Mayor added.

The ALPURT B2 project is a new 7.5km four-lane motorway which extends the Northern Motorway section of State Highway 1 from Silverdale to Puhoi.
