Consultation On Proposed Donovan Street Bus Lane

MEDIA ADVISORY
4 October 2004

Consultation begins on proposed
bus lane for Donovan Street

Auckland City is calling for submissions on a proposed bus and bike lane for the northern side of Donovan Street in Blockhouse Bay.

The citybound lane, between Rathlin Street and Boundary Road, would operate Monday to Friday between 7am and 9am, and aims to improve bus service reliability and bus use along Donovan Street.

General traffic travelling towards the city would use one lane, as per the current situation, however the existing on-street parking would be removed to accommodate the bus lane during operating times.

Turning bays would be installed along the length of the lane to help right-turning traffic, with permanent no-stopping restrictions introduced on parts of the southern side of Donovan Street to accommodate these.

Bus lanes are an essential part of Auckland City’s strategy to make Auckland’s roads work smarter and get more people using passenger transport around the city.

A submission form has been sent to residents along the route of the proposed lane. Submissions can also be made online at www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/transport. The closing date for submissions is Friday 29 October.
