Ak@Play - the way to find 1001 things to do every day

Auckland City is today launching “Ak@Play, 1001 things to do every day”, a one-stop shop for people to access information on events, parks, beaches, walkways, regional attractions, arts, sport, recreation and community facilities.

Ak@Play includes new web, email and WAP-enabled mobile phone services, a colourful pocket-sized summer guide and a new-look City Scene back page.

The website and event listings on WAP-enabled mobile phones are already live and people can start signing up for the weekly email newsletter from today on the website.

The Ak@Play summer guide not only has a comprehensive events calendar, focusing on free events running from October through to the end of March, but also includes a host of new information about things to do around Auckland city. There are hot tips on places to go, parks, beaches and walkways, sport and recreation, arts in the city, and community facilities.

All Auckland city residents will receive a copy of the Ak@Play Summer Guide in their letterbox with City Scene at the start of October.

Media information Ak@Play Media Library Auckland City has developed an online Ak@Play Media Library at www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/akatplay/media. The library will provide information for journalists on events, parks, beaches and walkways, sport and recreation, arts in the city, community facilities, and kids’ activities. The library will be updated regularly to include media-specific information such as: media releases grouped per event photos grouped per event procedures for filming at events downloadable forms for filming and copyright specific details for key events on: how to get a media pass, car parking pass and who to report to on arrival how to set up interviews - list of artists’ agents’ details so you can contact them before the event to arrange a time link to individual event webpages, for example, Pasifika Festival key contact details.

Five ways for the public to access Ak@Play information visit Ak@Play on the Auckland City website – either click on the Ak@Play logo on the home page or save www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/akatplay into favourites check out the back page of City Scene, delivered to all Auckland city residents each weekend go to www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/akatplay and sign up for our weekly summer email newsletter for what’s hot around the city watch out for a pocket-sized Ak@Play summer guide copies are also available from Auckland City libraries, hotels, cafes, community and recreation centres, regional attractions, tourist i-sites, at events, or from Auckland City Ambassadors. Guides can be mailed out to those requesting a copy via the Auckland City call centre on (09) 379 2020. access our event listings 24 hours, seven days a week by WAP browsing on your mobile – switch to number mode and spell AUCKLAND (28255263), add “.com” and go!
