Action Hobson - Left with no Credibility
"Today’s Action Hobson endorsement of Dick Hubbard for Mayor shreds any remaining credibility enjoyed by this leftwing
political party", said C Now Council Candidate for Hobson, and Deputy Chair of the Hobson Community Board Chris Diack.
“Their credibility is gone. They claim to be opposed to any roading in the Eastern Transport Corridor. It is their
principle core policy – the founding reason for their Party. Yet they now endorse a Mayoral candidate who supports
roading in the Corridor “in principle” with “caveats”. They ignore the only serious Mayoral contender who is, and has
always been consistently opposed to roading".
“Either they know something about the character of Dick Hubbard that the rest of us don’t or they don’t believe what
they say about the Corridor. Which one is it. They don’t believe Dick Hubbard or they don’t believe themselves?
“In any event we believe Aucklanders can make up their own minds about who is the best Mayoral Candidate to lead
Auckland without Action Hobson’s help."
“Action Hobson’s claim to be a party of conservative values is also dubious. Their true political affiliations are of
the left."

“They have accused C Now of being “far right”. What nonsense. I challenge them to point to one decision of the Hobson Community Board in the
last three years that justify this outrageous allegation. The Board doesn’t do “far left” or “far right” just common
sense.
Attached below is a City Vision email that shows that Christine Caughey was involved in drafting City Vision policy in
the lead up to the elections this year. Christine Caughey was involved in planning policy for City Vision.

Dear CVers,
City Vision is working on updating policy for the election next year. Policy groups have been formed from those people
filling out the slip from the last CV newsletter, and putting their names forward at the seminar.
Some people may want to add their names to the list because they have missed out...NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!!
You should email the initial coordinators indicated in the message below to say you want to join the group.
The groups have yet to meet so you haven't missed out on anything...the Transport Policy Group will be at 3-5pm on
Sunday 22nd June 71A Martin Avenue, Mount Albert.
The groups will be 'self regulating' with the aim to have 'draft policy' at the 26 July seminar. Issues will be debated
there and continued refinement will occur if final decisions are not made.
I include policy documents from the 2001 policy for you to look at...sorry for the large megabites.

CITY VISION STEERING COMMITTEE SUGGESTED POLICY GROUPS AND INITIAL COORDINATORS
It is suggested that there be 6 policy groups to work on policy suggestions towards the Policy Workshop on 26 July. The
aim of each group should be to examine existing policies and recommend what should be retained and what should be
replaced and make suggestions as to replacement.
The policy groups suggested are; 1. Infrastructure (water, public ownership of assets) 2. Transport (urban sprawl,
rail, motorways, transport infrastructure) 3. Environment (waste, volcanic cones, parks, pollution, quarries) 4.
Planning (urban design, public art, landscaping, resource consents) 5. Rating and Finance 6. Democracy, Communities and
Diversity.
Based on the responses from the mail out to supporters and indications at the Policy Seminar suggested that the groups
are made up as follows:

decide who will be the policy group convenor. The initial coordinator may have to get e-mails/faxs from Lindsey Rae if
