Development Trust Approves Community Assessment

Development Trust approves Community Facilities Assessment

The West Coast Development Trust shall manage a two phase study to assess the economic benefit and sustainability of leisure and activity projects within the West Coast region. Should first phase research show to the Trust’s satisfaction that these projects can become self sufficient and sustainable – the core requirement under the Trust Deed – then the Trust shall commission a study of the West Coast region’s needs for sporting facilities.

Information from the public would then be gathered to gain a vision for the future with a goal to deliver the most efficient means of meeting the needs of the West Coast Communities across our region. This report would be used to assist the Trust in the development of a policy to consider future recreational facility applications.

“The Development Trust has to assess how it can plan best for future community facility needs and that sustainable solutions are put in place” says Mike Trousselot, chief executive officer, “there is no endless pot of money and the Development Trust must prudently allocate funds to satisfy business, educational, environmental and social goals, while maintaining fund growth to satisfy the needs of future generations of West Coasters.”
