Business Council Backs Dick’s Record
The NZ Business Council for Sustainable Development (The Business Council) defends Dick Hubbard’s record as a founder member of the Business Council and a member of its Executive Committee.
The Business Council encourages each of its approximately 50 members to produce a sustainable development report (also known as triple bottom line report) within 3 years of becoming a member. Hubbards Foods reported in 2001 and was part of the Business Council’s Sustainable Development Reporting Project group in 2002 alongside companies including The Warehouse and Urgent Couriers.
The Business Council believes that reporting requirements need to be tailored to the individual company size rather than a “one size fits all” approach. Peter Neilson, Chief Executive, said: “It is after all pleasing that triple bottom line reporting is now a mainstream political news item and I encourage all companies to report on their social, environmental and economic performance – including the National Business Review!
As well as encouraging members to report, the Business Council requires the active involvement of the Chief Executive from each member and participation in its projects and work programmes.
Dick was elected to the Executive Committee of the Business Council in 1999 and has been a fervent voice for sustainability engaging in a range of projects and working groups including School Partnerships, Sustainable Supply Chain and identifying opportunities to improve work –life balance.
