Young New Zealanders’ Campaign is Reborn

Richard Poole, C&R Now candidate for the Hobson Community Board is rekindling his ‘Young New Zealanders’ message as a part of his campaign for the Hobson Community Board. Four years ago Richard Poole sent out an email addressed to Young New Zealanders across the globe in an effort to draw attention to the Brain Drain that our country was facing. At the time he received national publicity for his attempts to draw attention to the thousands of young Kiwis who leave our shores every year but don't return.

"I am now standing as a candidate for the Hobson Community Board in the upcoming elections, due to a desire to rekindle the interest of young people in local body politics. I have seen the commentary in local papers that young people simply aren't interested in their local government and I'm determined to help change this. Young New Zealanders should care about their cities and towns. They need to know that they can count on local body politicians to represent their interests and values, and that politicians do care about what they think", said Mr Poole.

"I am standing on the Citizens and Ratepayers Now ticket because I believe that we represent the true values of Hobson Ward. We stand for fiscal prudence, doing the basics, finishing the long overdue transport network and being strong on law and order. These are policies which matter to all Aucklanders, regardless of age", said Mr Poole.

"Last night, I sent out over 2000 emails to the ‘Young New Zealanders’ network. It's been a while since I last spoke with them, but it has been great to receive positive feedback so soon. The message is not just for them but for their families and friends that live in Auckland and who can make this a better city. Young Aucklanders in particular can take heart that C&R Now are fielding many younger candidates across the city.' said Mr Poole.

Richard Poole is 31 years old, is a marketing consultant (self employed) and a candidate for the Hobson Community Board on the Citizens and Ratepayers Now ticket.
