Temporary traffic disruption in Takapuna
Temporary traffic disruption in Takapuna
Traffic will be slowed and some roadside car parks will be unavailable when wastewater works begin in Anzac St, Takapuna, early next month.
The disruption will only last for three days, and is necessary to upgrade sewer pipe connections and install a new manhole at the intersection of Campbell Rd and Anzac St.
Several blockages recently affected properties on both sides of the street.
North Shore City wastewater network operations manager, Keith Morris, says while the work will interrupt traffic, it is essential.
"Faulty connections are slowing the flow in the main sewer pipe which runs down the middle of the road, and in some cases causing it to block up."
The work is part of the council's wastewater maintenance programme.
Contractors will start work outside numbers three and five, and two to 24 Anzac St early on September 6, and will work through the night to get the job done quickly.
Parking for about 20m on both sides of the road will not be available for the duration of the $26,000 project, because of work on the sewer connections.
Traffic flow on Anzac St will also be restricted at some times, and there will be no right turn from Campbell Rd onto Anzac St.
