Dick Quax on track to be Manukau’s next mayor says poll
“Dick Quax is clearly the man Sir Barry Curtis needs to beat if he is to survive as mayor” says Hamish Stevens,Chairman of Peoples Choice.
In the first of a specially commissioned series of polls, the incumbent mayor is clearly on notice with voters aged 35 plus . .Dick Quax has a slight lead over Sir Barry.
Barry Curtis’s strongest support comes from the young 18-34 with 33% support but the problem for Sir Barry is few of them vote.
In the western wards(Otara,Mangere,Papatoetoe,Manurewa ) Sir Barry is on 30% and Len Brown is on 20%.In the eastern wards Len Brown is not in the race while Sir Barry is on 18% and Dick Quax is on 22% with voters overall.
In the high voting groups of 50plus age group Dick Quax’s support is 33% among females and 30% among males. In these eastern wards(Botany/Clevedon,Pakuranga and Howick) Dick Quax is getting more support than Curtis and Brown combined.
“Clearly only Dick Quax can beat Curtis. If the voters want to get rid of Sir Barry Curtis they will have to flick Barry and Tick Dick” said Mr Stevens.
