May Day Celebrations

The Wellington Local Affiliates Council of the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions is strongly supporting the May Day celebrations in the capital, this Saturday May 1st.

Trade unions around the world will be calling for respect for what is typically taken for granted - the energy and commitment that employees put into their work. The business pages of typically taken up the discussion about methods of encouraging greater financial investment. Workers around the world this Saturday will be calling for at least a similar encouragement to be given to labour.

Following a march from the Cenotaph, there will be speakers and a concert at Civic Square starting at approximately 2:00 p.m. The proposed programme is appended.
