Shaw Surprised at Aggression Over Transmission Gully

Porirua City Councillor Robert Shaw said he was surprised by Sir Roderick Weir's "aggressive statement" on Transmission Gully.

He said Sir Roderick appears to have become "personal, bitter, and narrow".

Sir Roderick refuses to accept that Wellington City Council, Transit NZ, Porirua City Council, and Greater Wellington, have all concluded that the Transmission Gully motorway is the only long-term solution to Wellington's problems.

"The issue has always been "when" not "if" and how to protect communities and lifestyle while we wait for Transmission Gully."

"I find it sad that Sir Roderick Weir should spend his retirement trying to keep alive his old personal animosity towards individuals - this does not help us reach rational decisions. It would be good if Kapiti people could contribute sensible ideas." Councillor Shaw added.
