Rebellion Calls Public Meeting On A 'Fresh Start' For
Council Rates
A Public Meeting in Glenfield on Sunday 18th April will look at the way forward for changes to local and regional Council Rates.
Act MP Rodney Hide, who has a "rate capping Bill" before Parliament, and United Future MP Paul Adams, who is pursuing the scrapping of GST on rates in Parliament, will both be speaking at the meeting.
RatesRebellion spokesman, David Thornton, will give the keynote address entiltled "Council Rates - a Fresh Start". He will also update the meeting on the Rebellion against last years ARC rates policies, and options for change in this year's policy
Other local MPs and ARC representatives have also beeen invited - as have North Shore City Mayor George Wood and ARC Chair Gwen Bull. Local Government Minister Chris Carter has declined an invitation to attend, due to a prior commitment.
