Taskforce Green Workers To Assist With Flood Cleanup

Eight Taskforce Green workers have been made available to Hutt City Council to assist people needing help in cleaning up their properties in the wake of last week's devastatting floods.

Priority will be given to those most affected by the floods and who may be finding the cleanup a bit of a struggle. It is envisaged that they will also work on school grounds and reserve cleanups at a later date.

Residents needing help should call 570 6666 to 'book' the workers. The operation will be coordinated by Brian Toomey, a former Hutt City Council Emergency Management Controller.

Callers will need to give details of the work they require assistance with. It may be that there is a slight delay in the deployment of the workers if there is a large demand for their services.

Stevens Ford have kindly donated a utility vehicle to the operation.
