Council Releases Governance Statement
Hutt City Council has released its Local Governance Statement, which contains information about Council's processes, key policies, the legislative framework, consultative procedures, the role of elected members and representation arrangements.
Manager Policy Governance, Dorothy Adams, said the Governance Statement was required by the Local Government Act and aimed to present, in one easy to read document, a useful guide to Council's objectives, processes procedures and structure.
"The aim of the Local Governance Statement is to make Council more transparent and accessible to all residents," said Dorothy Adams.
"It can be a bit confusing trying to keep track of the role of Council, its committees, ward and board committees and hearing committees.
"Whether you're interested in finding out about council meetings and meeting processes, Council's management structure, representation arrangements or just how to contact key people, the Governance Statement is a useful document."
