Filipaina Wins Mangere Ward Councillor By-election

Mangere Ward Councillor by-election
Alf Filipaina has been elected to the Manukau City Council representing the Mangere Ward in the by-election that closed at 12.00 noon today.
Mr Filipaina will take his seat on the Council after being sworn in at the Council’s next meeting on Thursday 18 December.
The Electoral Officer received 9075 (30.34%) valid votes returned from the 29,911 forms sent out to registered electors in the Mangere Ward. While it is less than the 39% return from Mangere in the 2001 Local Government Elections this is the usual pattern for by-elections.
The results declared by the Electoral Officer John Skelton are as follows:
