Association Calls Public Meeting To Discuss Plans For Whenuapai Air Base
The association has responded to calls by the public for information on what is likely to happen to Whenuapai Air Base
when the Air Force departs in about 5 years time.
A public meeting has been arranged for Wednesday 9th December at 7.30pm at the Glenfield War Memorial Hall, Hall Road,
Glenfield.
Representatives of the New Zealand Defence Force will outline the options currently being considered for the use of the
base, including its possible development as a commercial airport.
Some residents have expressed concern at possible noise problems associated with an airport.
Meanwhile some business leaders are supporting an airport as it will help develop the economy of North Shore City.
The options currently being considered are detailed in a discussion document on the the Defence Force website
www.nzdf.mil.nz - and copies will be available at the meeting.
Submissions on the options document will close on 31 December - submission forms will be available at the meeting.
This is the opportunity for all residents to hear what is being proposed and to have their questions ansered and to
express their views.
All members of the North Shore public are invited to attend the meeting which will be chaired by Association Chairman,
David Thornton
