Bridge Closed Until Further Notice
The footbridge over the Piha lagoon is closed for repairs.
The bridge, which is about 20 years old, is the main access way between Piha Domain and the beach.
During a routine maintenance inspection, Waitakere City Council staff found that parts of the bridge supports were
unsafe as a result of weather corrosion.
At this stage the cost of repairs is unknown, but the work will hopefully be completed before Christmas.
In the meantime, residents and visitors to the beach are warned that it is unsafe. Notices have been posted on the
bridge and wooden barriers and fencing have been erected to stop public access.
