LAST CALL FOR FUNDING APPLICATIONS

Hutt Valley community groups have two weeks left to apply for support from the Hutt City Council's new funding schemes.

Applications to the Community Development and the Community Initiatives Funding Schemes both close at 4:00pm on Friday November 21.

HCC Community Funding Officer Caroline O'Loan says the funding schemes have a combined budget of $200,000, which is $30,000 more than has been available to groups in the past through the council's annual planning process.

"And these new schemes are in addition to council's other contestable funding for Arts and Culture and community events. It is hoped their introduction will make community funding more accessible to the many groups and organisations in the city."

The Community Development Funding Scheme will provide funding for operating and project/programme costs and the Community Initiatives Funding Scheme is directed specifically at new initiatives or new groups wishing to establish themselves.

HCC Manager, Policy and Governance Dorothy Adams says both schemes aim to support groups and organisations whose services contribute to the community outcomes identified in partnership with the community and set out in the Council's Long Term Council Community Plan.

To obtain an application form ring 570 6644 or download at www.huttcity.info/funding Forms are also available from the Council Call Centre, Libraries and the Information Centre in Andrews Avenue.
