Steering Group Agenda Available - Submissions keep
coming
The agenda from the Eastern Transport Corridor Steering Group meeting of 15 October is available to the media from Auckland City Council.
The agenda contains three reports: assessment of environmental effects scoping report issues and constraints report strategy study review.
The environmental effects report and the issues and constraints report are not final reports; they are updating reports that will be further developed as the Opus investigation of options continues.
Submissions continue to be lodged in response to community consultation on the Eastern Transport Corridor options.
Theresa Walsh, Opus team leader for the consultations, says it’s important people understand they can send in their submissions in any form they wish. They have until 31 October to get their submissions to Opus International Consultants for consideration.
“To make it easier for the community to respond, feedback forms are available from Opus,” she says. “However, you don’t need to complete one of these feedback forms to make your point and be heard in the process.”
Walsh says anyone can put in a submission and it can be done in any way, including post and e-mail, though it is important for the response to be in writing.
“We have received a lot of feedback forms as well as many letters and e-mails and more formal submissions.”
Communications manager for the Eastern Transport Corridor project Darrell Carlin says the public debate surrounding the project is positive as so many views are being aired.
“It has got people thinking about transport and how they want their cities to be. While consultation will always have difficult moments, the process has gone as expected.”
Carlin says
this second stage of public consultation has been far
reaching and the project team is pleased overall with the
response and with the way the project has captured the
interest of the community.
