Extreme Fun On Offer During School Holidays
Manukau City Council’s outdoor recreation team have a great school holiday programme that is guaranteed to be a boredom buster for children aged five to sixteen.
The first week of the holidays, 22nd to 26 September, Manukau on the Move will run a programme at the Beachlands and Maraetai Community Halls for five to thirteen year olds. Activities include a Beach Bonanza day, Amazing Art, Crazy Circus School day and Dinosaur Day. On the Wednesday a trip to the Botany Ice Rink and the pools at Lloyd Elsmore Park Leisure Centre is on offer.
Cost for the hall activities is $14.00 per day with the ice-skating/pool trip $30.00.
In week two the highly popular TEEN EXTREME programme for 12 to 16 year olds offers a huge range of fun and affordable activities.
This programme, which runs from 29 September to 3 October, includes;
the Amazing Race – teens can use their wits in this Wild West Coast race to see who can discover the treasure first sailing – an exciting day Optimist sailing and learning water skills sea kayaking – have a great day exploring new coastlines SAS challenge – the mission should your teenager accept, it is to survive a range of outdoor strategic games and challenges across bush, coast and farmland mountain biking – back by popular demand teens can test their skills on a variety of off-road tracks.
The Manukau on the Move team provides all the specialist equipment and qualified instruction is provided. There is an extra charge for $15 for bike hire on the mountain biking day. Pick ups from the Howick Recreation Centre or Allan Brewster Centre in Papatoetoe. Interested kids and parents should phone 274 6904 for more information and registration details.
