The Dominion Post Flora! Flora! 2003 Floral Art And Design Competition And Exhibition
The Worlds of Wellington Trust announces the second year of New Zealand’s only 100% dedicate floral art and design exhibition and nationally recognised floral awards event.
Flora! Flora! 2002 in October last year was a huge success in that it presented a new and vibrant element to the Wellington Events calendar. Held at Government House, the three day programme, was as promised, a carnival of floral design and excellence without the commercial trappings of the ‘gardening shows’ and over commercial approach. Flora is 100% Pure Artform!
In the era of ‘Creative Wellington’ the expression of art and design via the medium of flowers to a professional and amateur floral community is never more needed. The comments following the first outing have both here in New Zealand and internationally have been full of praise for the endeavours and objective of Flora! Flora!
The Dominion Post - Flora! Flora! 2003
This year the three day floral art and design competition and public exhibition, will feature the designs of New Zealand’s leading professional and amateur floral artists. The exhibition will be a combination of demonstrations in design and technique, the challenge of professional and amateur competition, with the second year of our national award programme with sponsored $5000.oo in prize money.
International floral demonstrators will representative the diplomatic community, with the goal of adding to the global design influence on the event.
Music and entertainment will supplement demonstrations over the three days creating a café boulevard atmosphere in this years location – The Michael Fowler Centre.
Last year’s theme was ‘Flowers with Attitude’: the 2003 theme is an appropriate one for the city Lord of the Flowers a celebration of the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
Flora! Flora! Dates: October 25 -27 Inclusive: (Saturday to Monday) Wellington Convention Centre – Michael Fowler Centre
As in 2002 the WOW Trust will use the event as the lead in to ‘National Grand Parents Week’ which the public fully endorsed for the first time last year. (Oct 26 to Nov 2)
