Models sought for Cult-Couture Awards
Manukau City Council is looking for models for the Villa Maria Cult-Couture fashion awards.
Casting is being held on Saturday 23 August at Nathan Homestead, 70 Hill Road, Manurewa at 10am.
Awards organiser, Leisa Siteine says, "We are looking for people from all ethnic backgrounds, including European, Maori, Pacific Island and Asian, and both males and females. Women should be a size 10 to 14 and men sized 81 - 86 waist and with average height of 6ft plus.
"We're asking the models to donate their time for free, but we will be offering them a couple of professional photographs to begin or add to a portfolio. It will be a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to enter this field as a career to see what it is like. Or you could be someone that has always wanted to just have a go at modelling."
Kelly Mischewski, producer of the Miss Counites-Manukau show and a former Miss New Zealand, will teach those chosen all the basic modelling moves. Successful applicants will have a month to practice putting their best foot forward before the Awards night on 19 September.
"The garments they will be wearing will not be your typical high fashion garments. We're anticipating some crazy designs which will make it even more exciting for the models," says Ms Siteine.
Models from the 2002 inaugural event gained valuable catwalk experience by being involved in an event of this kind. For most of them, being exposed to an audience of 700, and wearing 'wearable art' garments was a first time experience. Two of the models were chosen by the Director of Nova, who directed the casting last year, to join her agency.
