Mark Blumsky confirmed as Creative HQ Manager
Mr Mark Blumsky has been confirmed as the Manager of Creative HQ, Positively Wellington Business's highly successful incubator focusing on the creative industries.
Over the past few months Mr Blumsky, contracted by Positively Wellington Business, has led the establishment of Creative HQ and secured an impressive list of private sector and government partners.
Positively Wellington Business’s Chief Executive Mr Blair McRae said that as Creative HQ entered its second stage, “we wanted someone who could build partnerships with industry, local and central government.”
“I have been incredibly impressed with what Mark and the team have achieved with Creative HQ. The recruitment process brought forward a number of high-quality candidates but in the end Mark's track record, entrepreneurial skills and passion for Wellington stood out. I am confident Mark is the right person to lead Creative HQ in achieving its goals,” said Mr McRae.
Meanwhile Mr Blumsky is delighted that he gets to continue working with the emerging stars of Wellington's economy.
“It's fantastic working within such an entrepreneurial and innovative environment. We've got 13 companies on board and a number of them have already had great sales wins. It shows that what we have created here is special.”
Operating under a grow-and-go philosophy, the incubator provides premises and mentoring to start-up companies who are working with creative technologies. Stiff competition has meant that only those companies who can demonstrate the potential to earn export dollars and display a commitment to growth have been accepted. In fact the success of Creative HQ has led to Positively Wellington Business’s Film and Creative Manager Chris Lipscombe announcing the launch of a fashion incubator to be managed as an offshoot of Creative HQ.
“There are a number of innovative fashion houses and manufacturers already working in the Wellington region, and we’re keen to grow that number,” says Mr Lipscombe.
“Fashion is only one of
several industries in the creative sector that might benefit
from our incubator approach.” The fashion incubator will be
launched on July 3.
