Targeted Winter Aerial Operation – Delayed
Targeted Winter Aerial Operation – Delayed
There will be NO targeted winter aerial operation today, Wednesday11 June 2003. The operation is delayed due to unfavourable windy conditions.
The situation will be closely monitored over the next 24 hours and a decision will be made regarding aerial operations on Thursday 12 June, or the next day that weather permits.
Aerial operations during June, July, August and September will take place across five small winter target areas with a combined total area of less than 900 hectares. The areas of Motions/Meola Creek, Waikumete Cemetry, Ranui/Swanson, Riverpark and Hobsonville will be treated on a 20 to 28 day cycle using a small fixed-wing light aircraft.
Given favourable conditions and completion of the operation in a single day, it is expected that, Waikumete Cemetery and Meola Creek will be treated from 7am, followed, after 9am, by Hobsonville, Ranui and Riverpark with spraying completed by 12 noon. There will be no spraying between 8am and 9am as children travel to school.
