Hutt Businesses Strike Gold
Hutt City-based businesses won five out of a possible nine awards at the annual Gold Awards held in Wellington Town Hall last night.
In congratulating the winners, Hutt City Mayor John Terris said the wins showed the depth and range of talent among Hutt City businesses.
"We are not just a 'manufacturing' city, we have businesses that are leaders in industrial design, workplace safety, and education," said Mayor Terris.
"We have been supporters of the Gold Awards since their inception. It is very important to celebrate our successes and recognise the achievements of businesses throughout the region."
"That Hutt-based businesses did so well is the icing on the cake."
"I would also like to acknowledge the great work being done by two other Hutt businesses that were among the finalists - Eyede International and Robinson Seismic."
"Last year my Council included $580,000 in our Annual Plan for economic development initiatives.
"I would like businesses to know that, as a Council, we recognise their contribution to making this city a great place to live and work. Our role is to ensure that an environment exists where all businesses, new and existing ones, can thrive," said Mayor Terris.
