North Shore City Council Plans - Two Weeks To Go

Council Plans - Two Weeks To Go
April 11, 2003

The people in North Shore City still have two weeks to comment on their city council's draft 2003/04 annual plan before submissions close on April 24.

North Shore City councillor Andrew Eaglen who will chair this year's annual plan hearings committee, says the four-week annual plan submission period gives the local community an opportunity to hear what the council's plans are for the next financial year (July 1, 2003 - June 30, 2004) and to give feedback.

"We've taken a lot of time to develop these plans in consultation with the community and we'd like its input before the plan for the coming year is finalised.

"Local residents can share their views with us by using the submission form mailed to all households and businesses last month. Forms are also available from our head office, area offices and libraries, by calling Actionline or online from our website," he says.

The form can also be used to nominate a time to present to the council's hearings committee, when residents can address Andrew Eaglen and fellow councillors Callum Blair, Heather Brown, Wyn Hoadley, Gary Holmes and Mike Tafua, plus the mayor, George Wood. These hearings will be held during May.

Any changes will be reflected in the final, approved plan for the year 2003/04, which will be adopted on July 1.

After July, North Shore City ratepayers will get a separate rates bill from Auckland Regional Council (ARC). Under new government legislation (Local Government (Rating) Act 2002), each local authority including the ARC is now rating directly and as a result the ARC rate will be dropped from the North Shore City rates notice.

Submissions should be sent to Jo Daly, Annual Plan Submissions, Auckland Regional Council, Private Bag 92012, Auckland or deliver to Vodafone House, 21 Pitt St, Auckland or email annplan@arc.govt.nz. Submissions close on May 2.
