Put those new year resolutions into action and enrol in one of Manukau City Council’s Otara Music Arts Centre (OMAC) classes next term.
In term one of 2003, OMAC welcomes a new tutor for the Saturday vocal class, Mary Newland. Programme co-ordinator Ruth Thompson says Mary is a professional vocal tutor, with 15 years of vocal coaching experience behind her.
“Mary gives classes throughout Auckland and is in great demand. If you want to secure a class with Mary, please enrol early, as spaces are limited. Participants in our vocal classes will also have the opportunity to perform at local community events.”
OMAC also has a new tutor for the Saturday acoustic and electronic drumming class, Adrian Kingsford. All levels of skills are catered for. An exciting development for this term is that electronic drumming has been included, with the ability to add in backing music. This is an ideal class for those aspiring to be solo entertainers.
“Music is a great way to be creative and learn new skills, and it’s easy to find something to suit all levels, ages and personal tastes, from classical through to hip hop,” says programme co-ordinator Ruth Thompson.
“We also have a number of other classes on our programme, including Photography for Beginners with Terry Klavenes, Hulacise Workshops with Maii Arei and Poi Aerobics with Mereana Peka.”
You can enrol now for any of these courses or others offered at Otara Music Arts Centre. For more details call the centre on 274-6400 or pick up the latest copy of Manukau City Council’s ‘Arts in the City’ brochure from your nearest library or arts centre.
