The group have been a major influence in the development of Kapa Haka in Waitaha, with members now spread around the city, assisting with various Kaupapa Maori initiatives in Primary and Secondary schools.

Te Ropu o Te Kotahitanga are active in supporting their community and have a strong belief in the political and social function of Kapa Haka in New Zealand society.
