Local Government New Zealand Pays Tribute to ‘One of the
Best’
For immediate release on 23 January 2002
The President of Local Government New Zealand Basil Morrison today expressed sadness on behalf of the local government sector at the sudden passing of one of local government’s most well known and highly respected leaders – Philip Warren, Chairman of the ARC.
‘Mr Warren’s contribution to the sector was huge at both national and regional levels and it is with great sadness that the members of the National Council and others in local government farewell him.’
‘Phil was always going to be more than your average council elected member – right from the start,’ said Mr Morrison. ‘He will always be remembered with huge admiration for his ability to hone in on issues that he cared about and his ability to be heard across even the most crowded of rooms!’
Mr Morrison expressed his sympathies on behalf of the sector to Mr Warren’s family and friends as well as to his colleagues and staff at the Auckland Regional Council.
