What A Load Of Rubbish!
Manukau residents are eagerly getting rid of their unwanted rubbish now that inorganic collections have begun in the
city.
Over 600 tonnes of inorganic rubbish, 65 tonnes of metal and 2000 tyres has been collected and recycled in the first two
weeks of inorganic recycling collections.
- Refuse collected in Week One:
345 tonne of inorganic and 34 tonne of metal recycled and 1424 tyres recycled
- Refuse collected in Week Two:
319 tonne of inorganic and 31 tonne of metal recycled and 917 tyres recycled.
All residents will receive a green leaflet ten days before collection in their area. Residents are asked to put their
refuse out the weekend immediately prior to the collection date on their leaflet. Manukau City Council’s Call Centre ph
262 5104 can be contacted 24 hrs seven days a week if residents want to know the collection date for their street.
There will be three collections made within a day or so of each other. The first one will take all inorganic materials
including carpets, beds, bric a brac, furniture and rubbish. Separate collections will take place for scrap metal
including household appliances and tyres.
Residents can help collections run smoothly by sorting tyres and metal into individual piles clear of the inorganic
material.
