Entries Closing For Big Day Art Competition
For Immediate Release
August 10, 2001
Time is running out for primary and intermediate aged children to enter the Natural Masterpieces Big Day Art competition.
The Natural Masterpieces Big Day Art is a competition aimed at getting young people to visit the Auckland Natural Masterpieces (Regional Parks) and be inspired to create a piece of art.
The closing date for entries is Friday the 24th of August at 4pm and any Auckland youth at primary or intermediate school can enter and be in to win one of $10,000 worth of prizes for themselves and their school.
“The Natural Masterpieces Big Day Art competition is a wonderful way for Auckland’s young people to be inspired by our region’s natural beauty just as famous New Zealand artists and musicians have been,” says Councillor Bill Burrill, Chairman of the ARC Parks and Recreation Committee.
The artform may be visual (painting, drawing, print or photograph), a sculpture, performance (music or song writing), or imaginative writing to be performed.
Imaginative writing entries just need to be registered but visual art must be sent in with the registration form.
Registration forms can be found at schools or on the Big Day Art website – www.bigdayart.govt.nz.
Judges for the event on Saturday September 15 include King Kapisi, Auckland hip-hop musician.
The Natural Masterpieces Big Day Art is being
brought to Auckland by the Auckland Regional Council and
WestpacTrust.
