Hutt City Makes Reda Appointment
Hutt City Council has appointed Ken Harris, chief executive of Centreport, to be Hutt City’s trustee to the newly formed regional economic development agency (REDA).
Hutt City Mayor John Terris is delighted Mr Harris has agreed to represent Hutt City on the trust.
“Under Ken’s leadership, Centreport has supported a number of economic development projects in the wider Wellington region, and I am certain that he will make a very positive contribution to REDA,” said Mayor Terris.
“Hutt City’s financial contribution to REDA is a large part of its economic development budget, and I know that Ken will work hard to ensure we get real value for money for Hutt City residents.”
“I believe that we are getting the best of both worlds by pursuing regional economic development initiatives through this agency as well as developing our own city-specific strategies,” said Mayor Terris.
Mr Harris will serve on the eight member trust, along with Ken Douglas, representing Porirua City Council, and six trustees appointed by Wellington City.
Ken Harris is a Hutt City resident. He worked overseas for a period, and recently undertook study at the Insead University in France. He is Vice President of the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce, and a trustee of the New Zealand Harbours Superannuation Plan.
Hutt City is contributing $210,000 to REDA in the current financial year.
