All parking on the new art gallery site, bounded by Worcester Boulevard, Montreal Street and Gloucester Street, will end from Sunday 31 December.
At present parking is allowed on the Gloucester Street frontage while the contractor, C Lund and Son Ltd, concentrates on site preparations on the Worcester Boulevard side.
But from the beginning of the New Year the contractor will be working on the full site to build the new $32 million art gallery.
The Christchurch City Council's Parking Operations Manager, Maurice Smith, says alternative parking can be found in the Farmers and Oxford Terrace (Ridges) car park buildings and at the KEB car park.
Regular users of the art-gallery site car park have been informed of its closure, he says.
The new gallery is due to be completed in October 2002 and it will be open to the public in March 2003.
