“Riding for the Disabled to stay at Ambury Regional Park”

Auckland Regional Council chairman Philip Warren is delighted that the ARC Parks and Recreation Committee has cleared the way for Riding for Disabled to continue operations at Ambury Regional Park.

The committee voted today to grant a fresh licence to Ambury Centre for Riding Therapy Inc
Effective from December 1 for 19 years 364 days.

“I cannot speak highly enough of the work this organisation does for the community and I am proud that the ARC can play a role in facilitating that and count the centre among our partners,” Cr Warren says.

“Talk of partnerships often centres around large corporate sponsors and the like but as a local government organisation we value equally the partnerships we enjoy with community focussed organisations such as Riding for Disabled.

“Its contribution to the public good and its achievements on Ambury Regional Park during the past 19 years are an inspiration to us all and I look forward to its continued good work over the next two decades.”

The new licence is timely for the organisation, clearing the way for it to receive a $225,000 grant from the ASB Bank Trust.

Since 1982 the centre has occupied 3.5 hectare on Ambury Regional Park. This will increase to 4.3 hectares under the new licence.
