New Appointment To Creative Communities Committee

Nora West is the new Waiheke Island representative to Auckland City’s Creative Communities Committee. This was announced today at Auckland City’s Community Development Committee.
Ms West holds an Honours degree in textiles, a Diploma in Arts and a Masters degree in Art and Design. She is also qualified in mental health work.
Chairperson of the Community Development Committee, Councillor Penny Sefuiva said, “I am delighted at Nora’s appointment as I am confident she will bring a broad range of practical and academic skills to the role.”
A practising artist, teacher, organiser and facilitator, Ms West has a wide background in banner making and design, silk painting, conference management, video production and committee work.
As an artist Ms West has held many exhibitions, both collaborative and solo, and has won several art awards including the Overall Winner of the Waiheke Arts Awards, Compendium Fibre Award in 1988 and the Winstones’ Merit Award of the ‘Ties that Bind’ Exhibition. A resident of Waiheke Island, Ms West will also liaising with Councillor Faye Storer on issues affecting Great Barrier Island.
