Triangle Television celebrates two years on air
Triangle Television, Auckland's non-commercial television channel, celebrates two years of broadcasting on August 1.
"The station is now well established with diverse programming and a growing level of local content," says Triangle Television CEO Jim Blackman.
"In the past year we have broadcast nearly 1000 hours of locally provided programming. There are currently 30 groups involved with Triangle Television which are producing sports, arts, religious, musical and youth oriented programmes," says Mr Blackman.
"We are pleased that Triangle has met and surpassed the original intent for what the channel would be and how it would operate."
"Local groups are using the broadcast platform to address issues that are pertinent to specific communities and furthermore the issues are being presented and discussed in mother tongue where appropriate."
"Such programmes are produced by the community for the community and they are making an impact with their target audience."
"Over the coming year we expect local content to continue to expand and we have plans underway to install a studio for live broadcasts," says Mr Blackman.
Triangle Television is a not-for-profit organisation. The channel receives no funding from NZ On Air or government. The station's revenue comes from the sale of air time.
Triangle Television broadcasts to the Auckland region on UHF channel 41.
