Weather Workshop Five Day Forecast

The long range forecast from Weather Workshop for all of New Zealand
to midnight Saturday:
Situation: A trough of low pressure is expected to persist east of
the country between tomorrow and Friday then move away. A ridge
should spread towards the South Island later tomorrow and Thursday
then work to North Island areas on Friday. Saturday sees a high
centred southeast of the country with ridge conditions covering
most places.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA
TAUPO, WAIKATO, WAITOMO and TAUMARANUI: Rain becoming widespread
today then easing to a few showers tomorrow. Thursday sees showers
becoming confined to parts of Northland and Auckland, elsewhere
mainly fine. Fine Friday. A mix of fine and cloudy periods
Saturday.
TARANAKI, TAIHAPE, WANGANUI and MANAWATU: Rain easing later today.
Tomorrow showers gradually clearing from the south and west. Mainly
fine after that.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Patchy rain spreading east from
the main ranges today, chiefly south of Dannevirke. Rain persisting
north of Mahia tomorrow elsewhere fine periods increasing. Thursday
sees rain becoming widespread with freshening colder southerlies.
Showers becoming confined to Gisborne Friday, further south
fine breaks increasing. Fine and cloudy periods Saturday.
WELLINGTON: Becoming fine later today. Tomorrow a few showers but
long fine periods also. Showers may become more frequent Thursday
as southeasterlies freshen. Friday sees showers few and far between
with fine periods increasing. Fine Saturday.
NELSON: Becoming fine later today and remaining settled for much of
the period. A few cloudy areas at times but it should stay dry.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Coastal showers about south Canterbury
spreading further north overnight. Tomorrow the odd coastal shower
remaining but in most places cloudy and dry. Longer fine spells
Thursday and Friday but coastal cloud still persisting, especially
morning and night with the odd drizzle patch. Generally fine
Saturday.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Remaining showers clearing today
and fine tomorrow. On Thursday and Friday cloudy periods south of
the glaciers but further north mainly fine. A mix of fine and
cloudy periods everywhere Saturday.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Rain continuing today with snow in some places
to 400 metres. Overnight slowly becoming fine inland but a few
coastal showers persisting. Thursday and Friday sees fine conditions
inland and cloud about the coasts. A few drizzly showers there also.
Mainly fine everywhere Saturday.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Rain setting in later today and continuing for much
of tomorrow. Further rain at times Thursday. Friday sees rain easing
to showers, further showery conditions Saturday.
