Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A northwesterly airstream covers the North Island and upper South Island this morning and is followed by a front and southwest change. A low is moving onto the lower South Island from the Tasman Sea and should lie east of Otago later this morning and this brings a moist southeasterly flow onto the lower South Island.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, WAIKATO, WAITOMO and TAUMARANUI: Mostly cloudy with a few showers and northerly winds at first. Showers turn to rain during the afternoon with the winds tending northwest.
BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA and TAUPO: Cloud increasing with a few showers developing later then turning to rain well after dark. North to northwest winds.
TARANAKI, TAIHAPE, WANGANUI and MANAWATU: Cloudy with rain at times and gusty northwesterlies.
WELLINGTON: Cloudy with outbreaks of rain and strong to gale force northerlies.

THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Further rain over the upper North Island as the front becomes slow moving. A few showers clearing from the South Island east coast otherwise fine as a ridge moves on from the Tasman Sea. At the Chathams, outbreaks of rain.
