Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A southwest flow weakens today as a high in the Tasman Sea drifts onto the country bringing westerly winds to the lower South Island and light winds to most other places.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, TAUPO, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI and TAIHAPE: Mostly fine apart from a few cloudy periods along the west coast. Southwest breezes.
BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA: Fine with light winds.
WANGANUI and MANAWATU: A few cloudy periods at first this morning, otherwise fine. Southwest breezes.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Morning cloud and the odd coastal shower clearing and becoming fine with southwest winds easing.
WELLINGTON: Cloud clearing later this morning with southerly winds easing.
NELSON: Fine with light winds.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Fine inland today with light winds. About the coast, morning cloud clearing and becoming fine with southwest winds dying out and northeasterlies developing during the afternoon.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: A few showers clearing this morning and becoming fine with light winds.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Mainly fine inland with light winds. About the coast showers clearing but remaining cloudy at times with west to southwest winds.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Cold and showery with gale southwest winds easing.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Fine to most places with light winds but a few cloudy periods in Southland with westerlies there. At the Chatham's, Southwesterlies easing further with showers becoming less frequent.
