The long range forecast from Weather Workshop for all of New Zealand to midnight Sunday:
Situation: A southwest flow weakens today as a high in the Tasman Sea drifts onto the country. The high remains
entrenched over the North Island Until Sunday with a westerly flow affecting the lower South Island. On Sunday the high
weakens and allows a brief southwest change to spread up the country.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI and TARANAKI: Cloud and fine breaks with a few showers and southwest
winds today. Mostly fine after that with light winds but some cloud likely on Sunday with southwest breezes.
COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA and TAUPO: Mostly fine weather. Southwest winds dying out this evening and
remaining light for the remainder of the period.
TAIHAPE, WANGANUI and MANAWATU: A few cloudy periods today with west to southwest winds. Fine tomorrow through till
Saturday. A few cloudy periods on Sunday with southwest breezes.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Mostly fine today. Some morning cloud about the coast clearing tomorrow and fine
elsewhere. Fine Friday and Saturday. A few showers and southerlies spread north on Sunday.
WELLINGTON: Mainly fine today. Some cloud developing tonight. Becoming fine again tomorrow and remaining fine until
Saturday. A few brief showers Sunday with southerly winds.
NELSON: Mostly fine for the period with southwesterlies dying out today and winds remaining light until Sunday.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Mainly fine but some coastal cloud spreads north this evening. Fine Thursday through until
Saturday. A few morning showers clearing on Sunday with southwest winds.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND; Showers and fine breaks today. Mainly fine tomorrow. Cloudy about Fiordland on Friday
but mostly fine elsewhere. Patchy rain south of the glaciers on Saturday with cloudy skies further north. A few showers
clearing on Sunday with southwest winds.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: A few showers about the coast today. Cloudy at times inland. Mainly fine tomorrow but a few cloudy
periods remain about the south coast. Cloudy with a few light showers in Southland on Friday but mainly fine in Otago.
Rain at times in Southland on Saturday with scattered falls reaching Otago. Cloudy on Sunday with showers retreating to
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Cold and showery today through until Thursday with gusty southwest winds. On Friday and Saturday, a mix
of cloud and fine breaks with southwesterlies easing. Showers and southwesterlies redevelop on Sunday.
